I'm on book #5 so I won't be here until later this afternoon once I reach the end, but many of you have completed the series (so far) and have a need to discuss (as I know I will), so let's!!
EIT series is AWESOME...I can't thank Maryse enough for being the driving force in making me read these five books. Perry and Dex are such complex characters. I think I am more in book love with these two, than any other book couple. They have so much depth, pain, imperfection, chemistry and they can "see dead people"- what is not to love! Not everything goes well, in fact so much goes terribly wrong....but the shame, pain and hurt is sooooo good. I was so hurt at the end of #4-mad at Perry for not confessing her love, hated Jenn, really hated Dex. Then in book #5 after miscarriage, demon possession, sex with the big ginger-cajun, almost being sent off to a nut house- dear sister Ada (loved little fifteen) calls Dex to the rescue but not until 70% into the book... WTH... but he saves the day at the end before he is carted off to jail. One of my fav quotes: “Perry,” he said quietly, his fingers trailing down the side of my face, “you’ll never have to save my life. You gave me life. I never lived a single day until the day I first met you.”
Thankfully a place for fellow addicts like me! I can't get enough of these books!! I'm constantly on the edge of my seat wondering what's going to happen next and worried out of my mind for Perry and Dex. They're both such rich and complex characters. Just when you think you've gotten a good grasp, along comes another curve ball! So, anyone else getting the feeling that Maximus may not really be one of the good guys? He seems a little too eager to let Perry's shrink 'help' her. I can not wait to read Old Blood. I'm DYING to know more about Pippa, along with Perry and Dex's history as children. So far my favorite thing in the whole series has been the most ghetto birthday cake ever. That just cracked me up!!
Amy, when Maximus first appeared in Red Fox, I thought he was a pretty good guy...but after On Demon Wings, I think he's a total jerk. However, we don't know for sure what is going to happen next...since we are left hanging with him not letting Perry go when Dex is being taken away. He does tell her (if I remember correctly...and someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong) that he won't let them make her go to the hospital. When I start thinking of the ending of On Demon Wings, I get a stomach ache LOL!

I'm on the fence with Maximus....... Iwant to hate him for the coments he made to Dex insinuating how he got the scratches. He's a total Douche canoe (to borrow a EIT fav)....
Maximus is totally out for revenge (my opinion) and I bet he is going to be a force to deal with in #6. Speaking of cracking up, there were so many funny comments made by both Perry and Dex through out the books, but one that left me giggling was in book #3 while camping on D'arcy Island Perry asking Dex.... "Why are you up then?” I moaned. “Shit, shower and shave,” he answered. “But I could only do one of those. Come on, I have breakfast going. There’s coffee.” That Dex is just so cool!
Okay I'm here and my heart HURTS!!! I miss them already, you guys! Like I said on Facebook, it's like I spent the week with some awesome friends (crushed big time on one), had spats with 'em, bonded with 'em, freaked out with 'em, cried with them, and now they've gone home and I'm all alone. *sigh* I need book therapy My favorite parts? SO MANY but when he danced with her in Red Fox and she thought to herself "I love you" and then got freaked and stiffened and he held her face and asked her "what's the matter wifey?" *sigh* and then!!! His POV from that very scene when he thought to himself "She's MINE." YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD I loved that. I hearted him already but when I realized exactly how he felt about her with that (I mean it was obvious anyway, but getting in his head like that) YES!!! Blew my heart wide open. AND!!! When they were in the tent in Dead Sky Morning and *ahem* you know... and then after when he didnt want to take it further and told her that even if he was with Jenn, she had most of him, the best of him.... *sob* and then! and then!!! OF COURSE THE ENTIRETY of book #4 (Lying Season)... I LOVED how the author let us bask in *them* for so long without so much action and danger... in a normal life setting. Even if they weren't "together-together", being around each other like that all week intensified EVERYTHING between the two of 'em. And when he finally gave in to his feelings... and then he killed me by tearing my heart out in the very end. What she said? I would have SO said exactly that. Leaving his ass and telling him I QUIT!! YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! BUT!! When she had a few perfect opportunities to let him into her true heart and she didn't I KNEW what was coming and I was SO mad at her and thought to myself, she might deserve her heart broken after that. I'm going to admit I was a bit hurt by his reaction to Jenn throughout book #4. I felt like I was Perry suffering having to watch their "relationship and cuddling" but that he acted and seemed honestly hurt when Jenn kept going with her new cameraman... I was hurt for Perry, that he truly seemed hurt about Jenn not being faithful. I thought that maybe he'd finally let go since Jenn was so obviously letting him off the hook, but nope. He seemed sad and that was sad. I know it's cause he doesn't like "change" but I dunno... suddenly I wondered if he did actually love Jenn more then he let on. Oh and of course book #5... when he finally FINALLY showed up in the book he was my ultimate hero for SURE!!! PERFECTION! and I just KNEW that they were going to be facing the police but I was so sure her going with him willingly and no signs of her mental instability would make the cops realize that the parents were overprotective, but Eeeeeeeep!! I totally forgot to account for that meddling Psychiatrist. CRAP!!!! what are they gonna do now? Okay should I be embarrassed to admit at first I liked and even sort of crushed a bit on Max? Nowhere NEAR as much as Dex but I truly thought he cared for Jenn and while he was screwing over Dex, that Max really was probably a good guy. UGH!!!!!! I'm so embarrassed at how gullible I am!!! Why did he turn into such a DOUCHECANOE!! (LOL!!) Okay that's it for now, but I know I have tons more to say as I remember stuff.
HEART!!!! and when he said she could BRAND him and he'd let her.... that was BIG. Even if it seemed relevant to him being okay with her hurting him in her demon form... branding is significant. Means owning, and him using THAT as an example of how far she could go with inflicting him with physical pain was awesome.
Maximus made me sad. I didn't expect that of him. I was so sure he was going to "seem" like a bad guy at some point to throw us a curveball but that he'd save the day, but no. He's an ass! He was SO sweet to her when they were "together" together, too. I truly thought he was REALLY into her. He's probably a fraud ghost wise too, just like Dex said. Or he would have totally believed her. Unless... he's been enlisted by the demons in some way. On their side. A demon in human form or something?
Maximus, Maximus.... in the beginning I thought he might be a good guy, put somewhere in Redfox I started to get a bad feeling about him. Then he proved me right when he wouldn't back Perry up in front of her parents in ODW. I was sooooo happy when little fifteen called DEX!! I was kind of hoping Rebecca would show up with him too, but oh well. The whole drive back to Portland, I knew the cops would be there to arrest Dex for kidnapping and transporting a minor across state lines, BUT I totally forgot about the shrink! My heart absolutely sank even more when he told the cops Perry wasn't in her right mind and they took his word!! Its gonna be a slow sweet torture til book 6. I can hardly wait for Pippa's story in the mean time! ;-)
I was quite scared at how addicted I was to this series. I can not wait for 5.5 and 6... Its pure torture.
Maryse...thank you....thank you ...thank you!!! AGAIN :0) I was at a reading crossroads and have been reading random books trying to find the angst and emotional pull I thrive on. Well, I found it along with a bit of fear! The series started out slow for me but intriguing. I do have to say that I may have not read past book 2 if it wasn't for Maryse. Once I read book 3 I was a gonner. OMG book 4 OMG....the end....I had to do a double take and check to see if I was really at the end of the book. Then I had the security of book 5 already being out (thank my lucky stars). Book 5....first....where was Dex???....then...Max???...ok I can see that buuuuut... I just knew Dex would pop up....finally....I hate you Max....where's Dex...Ada go little sis! As complex and f'd up as Dex is, I love him so!!! Max can take a hike. I so felt he was up to no good. All that soughtern drall was a bit much. I can't wait for 5.5 and 6....I mean I really can't....ARGH! I so want to know what happened to Dex and his mom too! I really want to see Perry come into her power too and learn how to weild it. I mean if she can make all of the pictures in her home come crashing down, she has gotta pack a punch. I totally agree with Maryse about missing my friends too! Oh the wait...the agony...is it July yet?
Marcia... right on. Thank Goodness for Maryse encouraging us along this wonderful journey. So glad to see more EIT fans. Looking so forward to 5.5 and 6.... I think about Perry and Dex everyday. Come on July!

It is scary how accurate and insightful some readers are!" "There was one thing said in On Demon Wings about Dex that no one has picked up on. It's a major thing. But one girl did. Bravo!" "RE: the thing in On Demon Wings that one person picked up on? It's their guess and they are right and will be revealed in Book 8. HA!" "haha, not telling! If you didn't pick up on it, it will be revealed before the end of the series. MAHAHA" "well, the person who guessed it won't know she/he's right until Book 8, so it's all fair lol"
